About this deal

We’ll keep refining this process, but our goal is to ensure we have the best and most detailed information so you can confidently buy the right shoes every time. Padded, stretchy and roomy The transition from impact to toe-off was one of the smoothest I felt in a max cushioned stability trainer. The amount of cushioning and feeling of it make the Glycerins GTS 19 perfect for easier and longer runs. Brooks Glycerin 19 was designed to have all the comfort of its predecessor, the ultra-cushioned Brooks Ghost, but with a lighter weight and higher energy return. Through its DNA LOFT cushioning, this running shoe is built for smooth heel to toe transitions and its rounded heel offers better support and alignment to protect the joints.

The upper of the Brooks Glycerin GTS features top tier materials and it shows and performs as such. The air mesh upper along with gusseted tongue adapt and form to your foot while maintaining flexibility. The heel counter and ample cushioning provide a secure fit that translated into stability of the shoe. Overall, the upper carried on the dream-like feeling of running in these. The best word to describe how the Glycerin’s midsole feels is “padded”. It has nowhere near the level of squish as a Nimbus 23 or a Clifton 7 but it’s soft enough to absorb ground impact and make the ride comfortable. You won’t experience “your softest run ever” in the Glycerin 19 like Brooks advertises. Compared to the other max-cushioned trainers, the Glycerin 19’s ride is a tad firmer but it is more stable because there is less lean bias.

Cut in half: Brooks Glycerin 19 Review (2023) | RunRepeat

From a design perspective, the Glycerin 19 looks almost exactly the same as the Glycerin 18 and has very strong “dad” vibes. The Glycerin has always been a highly cushioned shoe with a premium upper and smooth ride, and version 19 is no different in that respect. It's a solid update with an improved upper that is more breathable and adaptable. There is a comfortable amount of padding around the heel and tongue, and although I found the forefoot to fit a touch narrow, my feet felt secure without any slipping. Like most other Brooks running shoes, the Glycerin maintains a very accommodating fit that should work for most foot shapes. The midfoot feels snug, while the heel secures the fit; the forefoot is wide enough to let your foot splay, and the mesh has enough stretch to avoid feeling squished. OUR VERDICT The Brooks Glycerin 19 is a medium-soft, max-cushioned trainer with a superb, comfortable, plush upper that’s best suited to easy-paced runs. The fit of the Glycerin is just right for me,” she says. “It’s my top choice when I’m feeling tired and worn down.”

Brooks Glycerin GTS 19 Conclusion

The Brooks Glycerin 19 is inviting and comfortable, there’s lots of padding in the upper, and the midsole has a smooth, yet slightly uninspired ride, which for an everyday trainer is not necessarily a bad thing, it's consistent. Kaleb: "This is my first pair of Glycerin shoes, and I have been impressed with the upper so far. The 3D Fit Print design provided a secure wrap that was very adaptable to my foot shape. I also appreciated the room in the forefoot, which allowed for toe splay. I did experience some Achilles irritation from the heel collar, but this problem dissipated after a short break-in period. I also found the upper to be on the warmer side when I was running in hotter conditions." GuideRails work differently than traditional stability technology. While many stability running shoes employ firmer foams or pieces of plastic on the medial side of the shoe to mitigate the effects of excessive pronation, GuideRails works to keep your body in its most efficient motion path. The outsole uses plenty of soft, blown rubber. Brooks prefers using a softer type of outsole rubber to soften landings and increase the ground feel.

The main feature of the upper is the fully gusseted tongue which Glycerins always have and that not even the Ghost 13 has.

When running in the Glycerin 19 in over 28 degree Celsius weather, in the heat of the sun, my feet were sweating profusely.
