About this deal

From a beginner runner just starting out, to a marathoner, the Ghost 13 has something for everyone. It can do easy runs, recovery runs and even tempo runs if you don’t mind its hefty weight. If you’re a heel striker, this shoe has ample cushioning in the heel. I’m not a heel striker, but I still appreciated the cushioning (now extended from the heel to the forefoot in the 13) and the smooth heel-to-toe transitions. That cushioned propulsion was especially nice when I used this shoe for a recovery day or a long run. It gives you an extra pep in your step. It’s not a super fast shoe, but it can handle speedier longer runs. I’ll continue using it for recovery runs, chill daily runs and for cruising on longer runs. What’s Special About the Brooks Ghost 13? Top Three Things It’s one of the best shoes I’ve tested for long runs because of its excellent stability, high level of cushioning and its comfortable upper. There are a couple key differences between the Brooks Ghost 12 and Brooks Ghost 13 when you compare them side by side, but many of the essential elements haven’t changed. As for me, the only issue I have wuith them is that the outsole is wearing a little faster than I would’ve liked, but not by much. They’re lasting longer than my Nike Pegasus 39’s did. Besides that complaint, my Ghost 14’s have been phenomenal. I feel great all throughout my runs in them, and I run anywhere from 25-30 miles every week. I even use them for walking some days and they make for excellent walking shoes.

A daily trainer is arguably the most important shoe in a runner’s shoe rotation because the bulk of their running is done in them.Designers draped the Ghost 13 in an engineered mesh upper. The one-piece mesh wraps around the entire shoe seamlessly, which helps mitigate any hot spots or irritation that might develop.

There are reflective strips on both sides of the toe box and on the heel for night time visibility.

The tongue is still not gusseted so it slides laterally. The premium tongue gusset is only featured on the top of the range Glycerin. My first run was on a cold winter morning and I could feel the icy wind on my feet so it’s definitely airy and breathable.

DNA Loft was present in the heel of the Ghost 12. Now, as previously mentioned, in the Ghost 13, you get more of that cushioning – Brooks extended it from the heel to the forefoot. Because of this, many testers found it softer than the 12. It wasn’t super obvious to me (both shoes feel plush and soft), but there is a tinge more softness in the 13. After 80 kilometers in the Ghost 14, I’ve noticed that outsole durability is however below average compared to other daily trainers so if you’re particularly hard on outsoles, stay away from the Ghost. From many years of running in versions of the Ghost, we know that Brooks’ most popular neutral running shoe has consistently delivered, providing reliable comfort and performance to a wide range of runners, from beginner to elite. The latest version, the Ghost 15 has been subtly updated, but continues to deliver!

The Ghost 14 gets brand new flat laces which replace the old oval laces. I find that the flat laces distribute pressure more evenly and they make the entire lacing area flatter and more performance oriented. Stability is great in the Ghost 13 and it remains one of the most stable neutral trainers money can buy. The new headline feature of the Ghost 14 is that it now has a full DNA Loft midsole compared to the 13 that only had a half DNA Loft midsole. DNA LOFT cushioning now extends throughout the midsole for an even smoother transition from heel to toe.

Out of the big five daily trainers which consists of the Pegasus, Cumulus, Ghost, Ride and 880, the Ghost 13 was the last to be released in 2020. Brooks’ Ghost 13 marketing pitch is “the perfect blend of softness and responsiveness”. I agree with the softness part but not with the responsiveness part. The Ghost 13 felt softer right when I stepped in,” one Fleet Feet tester says. “But it’s still super smooth and easy going on the run. Classic Ghost.” The upper in the 13 is more breathable and Brooks tweaked the outsole ever so slightly to make it more stable. The Brooks Ghost 13 Versus the Brooks Glycerin 18
