About this deal

It's highly likely that an inset bath is going to be the main option for most people. Their big benefit is that they can fit into a large section of bathroom situations as they are flush fitted against a wall. You'll either have it so it spans the full length of the bathroom wall so only one side is showing - that can be covered with a bath panel – or you’ll have one end showing if your bathroom is on the larger side. You can also choose between single-ended, where the bath taps are at one end, or double ended, where the bath taps sit in the middle of the bath so you can use either side to rest your head. Single ended tends to the most popular option.

The key to success when installing a new bathtub is to make sure the new one fits perfectly in the void left by removing the old tub. Most alcove-style bathtubs measure 5 feet long and between 28 and 34 inches deep. It’s challenging to get an exact measurement from the existing tub while it’s still in place. Fortunately, bathtubs come in standard sizes, so your educated guess from the tape measure will be the correct measurement. Ensuring all connections are tight before installing other fixtures like sinks, showers, or tubs is essential.Cut a two-by-four board to match the length of the bathtub. Line up the two-by-four’s top edge with the lower marks on the stud and attach it with exterior grade screws to each stud. While a steel bath is one of the strongest types of baths, an acrylic bath is still a great option if you are looking for a sturdy bath that won’t break the bank. Each connection must be secure and leak-free when connecting the water supply lines to valves and fixtures. The central drain line should be connected first, followed by the toilet drain or shower drain. Toilet flanges should be installed on existing drain lines before connecting them to the main sewage line. The minimum toilet vent size depends on your plumbing code. In the IPC toilet vents are 1.5”, in the UPC it’s 2 inches. For more on venting a toilet read this article. We are currently using Royal Mail Parcelforce and DPD as our delivery providers, all small items will be delivered by Royal Mail, these can take up to three working days to reach you.

Score and remove the cement board, drywall, or plaster underneath the wall finish below the cut line, and continue removing material until you reach the wall studs. If a stringer board or tub-edge support board is present, remove it with a pry bar or a screwdriver bit on your drill. Chip away the old mortar bed if one exists. A bathtub is more than it appears on its surface. Under the tub surround, tile, or other wall finish is a flange that acts as flashing to keep water away from the walls. You’ll need to expose the flange to remove the bathtub. The next step is installing faucets for sinks, showers, or tubs. The fixtures must be securely attached to not become unstable due to water pressure or vibrations from other machines nearby. Replacing your bathtub is a big project that can beautify your bathroom and make bath time inviting again. You can employ your intermediate DIY skills with patience and a helper to accomplish the job over a weekend. If you’re up to the challenge of learning how to install a bathtub, removing and replacing your tub can save you money over a complete bathroom remodel, and you’ll save big by providing the labor yourself. Prepping to Replace Your BathtubWaste flowing through a drainage system creates air pressure fluctuations. These fluctuations in pressure can disrupt trap seals. If these fluctuations are large enough, they remove part or even all of the trap seal. And once that precious seal is lost….in comes the sewer gas….right into your home.
